Gina Bellman’s career can be traced far back to the early 1980’s and she’s a testimony to timeless and graceful acting. She became the toast of every household in the television drama Blackeyes in 1989 with the role of Blackeyes. However, she made her debut with the role of Christine in the TV series Into the Labyrinth in 1982. Following this role, she landed another role as Trudy in 1984 in the TV series, Grange Hill.
Gina Bellman’s first film was acting alongside Richard Gere as Tamar in the 1985 film, King David. In the same year, she also landed a role as Gena Ruberti in the TV miniseries Mussolini: The Untold Story. 1989 turned out to be a busy and fruitful year for Gina. Her first role was in an episode (The Unlucky Winner Is…) of the TV series, Only Fools and Horses where she acted as Carmen. This was followed by another episode (Sitting Targets) as Greta in the TV series Screen Two. Then came her big break as Blackeyes in the 1989 TV series of the same name.
In 1991, Gina Bellman acted the role of Eurydice in the TV series The Storyteller in the Orpheus and Eurydice episode. Also in 1991, she starred in the film, Secret Friends as Helen. In 1992 Gina starred in two movies: Vsetko co mam rad and Leon the pig farmer. She was Ann in Vsetko and Lisa in the latter. In 1993, Gina Bellman also starred as Sandra/Marion in Horse Opera and her next project was in 1994 as Elizabeth “Liz” Blakemore in the TV series, The Little Napoleons in the episode The Big Interview. In 1996, Gina starred in the film, Silent Trigger as Clegg (Spotter).
In 1996 Gina Bellman also appeared in two other TV series. In Scene, she appeared in one episode (Young Jung) as Athene Nike/Trainer and in Sharman, she appeared in one episode as Kiki. She starred as Michal in David in 1997 and in 1999, Bellman also appeared in an episode (ghost’s forge) as Samantha in Jonathan Creek. 2000 was a busy year for Gina because she starred in three films: Henrietta Spain in Ted & Ralph, Eve in Paranoid and Claudia in Seven Days to Live. She also started filming for the hit TV series Coupling as Jane Christie. The show ran until 2004 and Bellman was a regular in 28 episodes.
Other projects that Gina Bellman appeared or starred in include: Sydney in Zerophilia and Caroline in The Last Detective (both in 2005); Kathleen Bury in Permanent Vacation, Marina Stoll in Hotel Babylon, Claire Jackman in Jekyll (6 episodes), Traci Reed in Nearly Famous and Catherine Carteaux in Heroes and Villains (all in 2007). In 2008, Bellman appeared in 2 episodes of The Wrong Door as Pilot Instructor/Jill. In 2008, she got the role of Sophie Devereaux in the hit TV series Leverage, now currently in its fourth season. She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Television for a Saturn Award.
